Pomodoro Technique
Repurpose interval alarms to strictly enforce your work and break schedules throughout the day.
Overview
While ReAlarm doesn't have a dedicated Pomodoro timer built-in, its robust Interval Alarm engine can be easily adapted to keep you on track during deep work sessions. By setting up recurring intervals, you can ensure you remember to stand up, stretch, and take a break without having to constantly check the clock or reset a manual timer.
Capabilities
- Persistent Background Timing: Unlike standard timer apps that can be killed by Android battery optimization, ReAlarm's scheduling engine runs deeply in the OS, guaranteeing your interval triggers exactly on time.
- Quiet Hours Support: Enforce your Pomodoro schedule only during the workday. Quiet Hours will automatically suspend your work intervals at night.
- Dual-Alarm Stacking: You have the freedom to layer multiple interval alarms to create complex schedules.
How to Setup
- To create a standard 30-minute Pomodoro cycle, establish two separate Interval Alarms.
- Alarm 1 (Work): Create an interval alarm starting at 9:00 AM, repeating every 30 minutes. Name it 'Focus Time'.
- Alarm 2 (Break): Create a second interval alarm starting at 9:25 AM, repeating every 30 minutes. Name it 'Break Time'.
- Both alarms will now seamlessly leapfrog each other throughout the day, resulting in a continuous loop of 25 minutes of work and 5 minutes of rest!
Use Cases
Deep Working: Students studying for exams utilizing 50-minute blocks (Alarm 1 at 9:00, Alarm 2 at 9:50).
Physical Health: Software engineers setting a single 45-minute interval alarm all day as a strict reminder to stand up and stretch their legs to prevent back pain.
